As Dr. Shelley Carson points out her book Your Creative Brain, creativity is not limited to artists or writers.
“We are all creative,” she insists. “Creativity is the hallmark human capacity that has allowed us to survive thus far.”
And she’s not just talking about surviving external events. She’s talking about surviving the internal ups and downs of life. (Yes, we all have them.)
Here’s one of her simple exercises, and her book has many more.
It only takes 10 minutes. Why not try it? You might be surprised at what it reveals.
Wallet Excercise:
- Empty the contents of your wallet.
- Pick three things you think representative you as a person.
- Write a short paragraph about each of those things and how they relate to your personality.
Now, look over what you have written. Learn anything?
Feel free to share any big revelations here. I’d love to hear what you discover.
