The Blog

The My Castle Heart blog charts Angela’s journey as a writer, mom, and purpose seeker in the wake of losing her cherished mother-in-law and the grandma she always wanted—right at the moment she stepped into motherhood.

Angela was inspired to take the lessons she learned from these two enterprising women to inspire herself, other writers, and her own kids to seize the day and follow that dream perched on the high hill of your heart.

This blog is not a place to bemoan and regret. It is a place to celebrate all the wonderful ways that lives well lived may continue to inspire hope and action. It is a place to celebrate and experience life, arms wide open, just as Sue and Shirley did.

As the song from Sue’s favorite musical “Wicked” goes:

“I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives
For a reason,
Bringing something we must learn.
And we are led to those
Who help us most to grow,
If we let them …

“It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime.
So let me say before we part,
So much of me is what I have learned from you.

“You’ll be with me,
Like a handprint on my heart.
Now whatever way our stories may end,
I know you have rewritten mine.

“Because I knew you,
I have been changed for good.”

  1. What a great idea to celebrate Sue’s fun spirit with a memorial like this! She was an awesome lady. One thing Dara and I always remember is how she taught us how to make a Pimm’s Cup. We always toast her when we have one.
