Bored at home? Try out a new park.
Bring a picnic lunch. Better yet, take a friend’s kid, so she can go get a pedicure (and swap the favor next week).
We recently tried Bayview-Kinnear Park (below Kerry Park) on Queen Anne hill in Seattle. The play gear was completely different from anything Szaba (or I) had seen before, and we had a ton of fun exploring. Plus, there are fantastic views and arguably one of the city’s best slides.
If you’re visiting Seattle, it’s just a short jaunt north of downtown. Hop a cab or a bus, and you’ll be there in about 10 minutes.
Have exploring!

Golden Gardens has an enormous, shiny-and-new, play structure that we stumbled across recently while looking for an event that was not happening. Anyway, it felt like we were playing on a spaceship. It’s a bit of a haul but totally worth it.
