Sevilla

SevillaPlaza

On a dreary Seattle day, I escape to memories of Sevilla.

Watercolor corridors, geometric plazas, the smell of orange trees, hamhocks in windows, the distant clap-clack of the Flamenco …

Never been? I have one word for you: GO. Here’s what you need to know.

Packing Toys for Flying With Kids

Travel with KidsKids on a plane. Not to be confused with Snakes on a Plane—though you may find both prospects equally terrifying.

We’ve traveled a lot with our toddler (read my guest “manifesto” on TheEverywhereist.com), and my mom friends are always asking me for tips.

Free Seattle: Bayview-Kinnear Park

31 Jul

Bored at home? Try out a new park.

Bring a picnic lunch. Better yet, take a friend’s kid, so she can go get a  pedicure (and swap the favor next week).

We recently tried Bayview-Kinnear Park (below Kerry Park) on Queen Anne hill in Seattle. The play gear was completely different from anything Szaba (or I) had seen before, and we had a ton of fun exploring. Plus, there are fantastic views and arguably one of the city’s best slides.

If you’re visiting Seattle, it’s just a short jaunt north of downtown. Hop a cab or a bus, and you’ll be there in about 10 minutes.

Have exploring!

Lummi Island Happy Hour

Sue was a big fan of the SanJuans … and happy hour.

There are mountains, state parks, whales, yachts, bald eagles, farms, ferns, oysters, orchards, honor-system farm stands, and evergreens as far as the eye can see. And did I mention whales?

An out-of-town friend recently saw my posts about it on Facebook and requested I feature some travel tips for families. And so …
